Cairns Children's Festival

Established in 2014, the Cairns Children's Festival is a two-day celebration for children aged 12 and under, and their adults. Held annually in May, the festival aims to put youngest creatives in the spotlight whilst also creating a safe and fun environment for families to explore, create and imagine. There are workshops, concerts and hands-on activities as well as roving entertainment and delicious food. A lot of the activities are free and fun for the entire family, with select events ticketed at an affordable price. Events are held across multiple locations, including Cairns Performing Arts Centre, Court House Gallery, and Tanks Arts Centre. Council hosts a number of engagement workshops and opportunities where children can contribute to installations and engage with creative projects in a productive manner.
