About

Port Pirie Regional Art Gallery is pleased to present The Brothers Gruchy, a touring exhibition curated by Bundaberg Regional Galleries and toured by Museums & Galleries Queensland. Featuring nine key works by acclaimed digital artists Tim and Mic Gruchy, this exhibition explores the intersections of technology, biology, artificial intelligence, and human perception through innovative multimedia and performative art. Tim and Mic, who grew up in Bundaberg, have been pioneering digital art since the mid-1980s, both as individual artists and as collaborators. Their works delve into familial connections, environmental change, industrial impacts, and the evolution of modern technology, offering a sensuous and thought-provoking vision of a rapidly shifting world. Highlights of the exhibition include: Anamnesis – A nostalgic exploration of family memory using vintage slide projectors and archival imagery. Reflections on Great Australian Rivers – A visual and conceptual journey through environmental change. The Decommissioned Baoshan Steelworks – A haunting portrayal of industrial decline in Shanghai. Rebecca McDuff, Director of Bundaberg Regional Galleries, describes The Brothers Gruchy as a celebration of regional artistic talent and creative connectivity, showcasing the artists' unique strengths and shared vision. This exhibition is supported by Museums & Galleries Queensland, the Australian Government's Visions of Australia programme, and the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
