About the Event
About
Nick Dridan lives in Amphitheatre, in Central Victoria's Pyrenees Ranges. Having grown up in the area and continuing to work in this part of the world, both memory and direct observation have a role to play in his working method.
His paintings have been described as somewhat detached, revealing an insular and strange beauty that can seem slightly otherworldly. The artist has painted ten new works for this exhibition along with one painting exhibited in 2024.
His palette is seeped in the colours and imagery of his farming landscape but hint at deeper stories or allegories that extend beyond this locale.
The artist has worked in watercolour, oil paint and acrylic and the exhibition and you can see how Dridan explores the qualities of these different mediums.
Nick Dridan is represented by Australian Galleries Melbourne/Sydney and BMG Art Adelaide. Dridan has a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Fine Arts), with Honours from the Arts Academy at the University of Ballarat.
Central Goldfields Art Gallery is proud to profile the work of leading artists from the region. This is Dridan's first solo exhibition at the Maryborough gallery following participation in a group exhibition in 2014 and an exhibition with Harley Manifold, in 2016.
