About
Violinist Richard Tognetti AO, Artistic Director of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, joins forces with acclaimed pianist Konstantin Shamray for a breathtaking recital showcasing works by Bach, Schubert and Brahms. This program promises a powerful journey through intricate and emotionally rich compositions, performed by two of Australia's most electrifying classical musicians.
Tognetti, internationally celebrated for his compelling performances and artistic individuality, began his studies in Wollongong and later trained in Sydney and Switzerland, where he received the prestigious Tschumi Prize. In 1989, he was appointed Lead Violin of the ACO and, subsequently, Artistic Director. He is also Artistic Director of Festival Maribor in Slovenia. Richard plays a 1743 Guarneri del Gesu worth over $15m, an instrument that Paganini himself has played.
Shamray, described as an exhilarating pianist with flawless technique, gained national attention by winning First Prize and the People's Choice Award at the 2008 Sydney International Piano Competition — an unprecedented achievement. He has since performed with major orchestras across Australia and internationally, earning high praise and multiple accolades, including Germany's Luitpold Prize.
Performed in the beautiful, historic Castlemaine Town Hall, these outstanding musicians will create a transformative musical experience that will take your breath away.
