About

Dom Turner is no stranger to Bundy Hall having performing almost annually with Backsliders. In 2024 his mastery of the slide guitar was acknowledged when asked to play live onstage with touring legends The Tedeschi Trucks Band (with Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi) and The Allman Betts Family Band. With The Rural Blues Project, Dom presents a mix of upbeat raw electric rural blues songs—originals, as well as versions of songs by artists such as Son House, Lead Belly, Fred McDowell and RL Burnside, all played in a wild and heavy groove-based style. Joining Dom is the shuffle king himself, legendary drummer Rosscoe Clarke (Foreday Riders, Cyril B Bunter). Opelousas is a powerful and multi-award-winning female-fronted collaboration between Kerri Simpson, who has successfully traversed musical genres from gospel to country, dance and rock; Alison Ferrier, a prolific songwriter and talented lead guitarist; and drummer/percussionist Anthony Shortte, who is well known to Australian blues lovers and has brought his unique down-and-dirty grooves to a new level with Opelousas. Opelousas have a unique and hauntingly hypnotic take on blues and rock that will leave you mesmerised. The rhythms of Opelousas seep right into your bloodstream and their powerful performances leave punters crying out for more.
