About

The Grounded Esperance Hiking Festival returns with an expanded program of hikes and immersive nature experiences. Set against the spectacular backdrop of Esperance and Cape Le Grand National Park, this five-day festival invites you to slow down, move with intention, and reconnect—with nature, with self, and with community. Join one of six hikes led by award-winning Off the Beaten Track WA, or embark on a 6-day swag and hiking journey with Untamed Escapes (ex Perth). From rugged trails and cultural experiences on Wudjari Country to Esperance's iconic beaches, there's something for every adventurer. Build your trail confidence with two hands-on workshops, designed for beginners and those ready to step up to overnight hiking. Off the trail, the festival offers tree listening, an artisan immersion, and a special talk from global adventurer Tom Smitheringale about his solo North Pole expedition. At day's end, wind down at Lucky Bay Brewing—the festival's unofficial watering hole—with live music, movies, and the infamous hiking trivia night kicking off day one. Grounded runs alongside the Month of Hiking, supported by the WA Government's Hiking Participation Grant, encouraging locals and visitors to embrace the outdoors with a month-long hiking challenge throughout September.
