Avon Descent

The Avon Descent is one of Western Australia's longest-running and most iconic sporting and community events attracting local, national and international competitors to compete in a series of power and paddle races on the Avon and Swan rivers alongside a host of free community festivals. Competitors challenge the Avon and Swan rivers in a range of races and formats, from short one day courses to the more grueling 124-kilometre two-day ultramarathon spanning Northam to Bayswater. Follow the thrills and spills of the great race from one of the many river festivals conducted by local government partners. With plenty of entertainment for all ages, free rides, live race commentary, exciting spectator spots and much more, there is something for everyone on the Avon Descent weekend.
